Research Topic: Impact of Noise Pollution on Auditory Aging, Frailty, and Mental Health in the Shipping Industry
Research Project: Workers in shipping ports are often exposed to loud noise, which can lead to serious health problems. Being close to noisy machinery increases the risk of tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and hearing loss, while long-term exposure can also cause fatigue, weakness, and mental health challenges. My research examines how noise pollution affects hearing and overall health in workers at the Port of Halifax, NS. It also investigates how noise impacts their energy levels, mental well-being, and quality of life. By studying this, we hope to understand these risks better and help create strategies to protect workers’ health and improve workplace conditions.
